As a unitary authority, the Council provides a full range of back office and front-line services involving extremely diverse and complex standards for information handling.

The Council is currently embarking on the implementation of its approved Records Management program to ensure compliance with the following goals:

  • Improve the management of unstructured information across the organization
  • Ensure Compliance with Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011
  • Ensure Compliance with Data Protection Act 1998; the General Data Protection Regulations (EU 2016/679) and Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

The Council aims to provide employees with a modern workplace leveraging Office 365 and SharePoint On-Premises. The Council recognized that ity needed a compliant way forward to enable productivity gains, improved collaboration, and sharing across services.

“We are excited to announce we have selected RecordPoint as our software partner for our records and information management compliance at Dumfries and Galloway Council. RecordPoint provided the Council with the only compliance platform that met our current needs today and will meet our future cloud transformation goals. “

RecordPoint was selected over competitors because RecordPoint’s platform offered us a clear journey to the cloud when we are ready, without additional process overhauls. —Lindsay Turpie, Records and Information Management Officer, Dumfries and Galloway

Looking to the future

RecordPoint was chosen as the technology solution to support 3,000 corporate users with the flexibility to enable an additional 2,000 users in education. Furthermore, in addition to meeting the Council’s current technology landscape, RecordPoint was the only vendor that met the future migration strategy to the cloud, leveraging Office 365 standalone or an Office 365/SharePoint hybrid environment regardless of whether the SharePoint servers are positioned on-premises in a Council data center or in the Azure Cloud.

Email management was also a necessary requirement. For email management in Exchange, RecordPoint technology partner Repstor was chosen for its feature set and seamless integration within the RecordPoint solution.

RecordPoint is pleased to have been chosen to provide Dumfries and Galloway with a “comprehensive and user friendly EDRMS” today and into the future.
